A College, university or program which is accredited
indicates quality and reputation. In distance learning, it
is wise for the students to choose the accredited
universities. We can see what the importance of accredited

Now-a-days there are lots and lots of educational
institutions are growing all over the world. Institutions
are accredited by measuring their performance standards. The
accreditation council will accredit, or pre-accredit or
denies accreditation depending upon the nature of the
educational institutions. Though the accreditation is also
applicable for already accredited educational trust by
monitoring education process they follow.
Accreditation is categorized as institutional accreditation
and specialized accreditation. Institutional accreditation
is awarded to an institution by one of six regional
accrediting agencies and many national accrediting agencies,
such as the Distance Education and Training Council. The
regional accrediting agencies play the largest role in
institutional accreditation.
If a college or university is regionally accredited, that
means that the institution as a whole has met the
accrediting agency's standards. Within the institution,
particular programs and departments contribute to the
institution's objectives at varying levels of quality.
Distance learners should be careful in choosing their
institution. Selecting accredited college or university is
wiser as you are assured with basic level of quality
education and services. If you are a graduate from an
accredited college or university you will be recognized well
by other colleges, universities or the employers as a
legitimate credential. You will also be eligible for
financial support from financial organizations
